TOWN LOSE 4-1 AT FC CLACTON
IN LAST GAME OF THE SEASON
MONEY TALKS
With the season coming to a close we can all reflect on the past season and hopefully remember the successes and high points! As a newcomer to the club I can only reflect on the past five matches.
It all started positively with a 2-2 draw away to inform Stowmarket, when we came from behind twice to secure a well deserved draw, in fact if a close range header from Karl Pask had not been disallowed we could have nicked all three points.
The next match at home to Halstead I was away for the weekend and by all accounts we had 80% of the play but could not convert our possession into goals.
Tiptree arrived needing three points to get promoted as champions and we duly obliged with a goal in the first minute and two more before half time. The only positive to come out of that match was we now know what we need to do to get promoted!
A real high point was our first win at Great Cornard with seven players unavailable from the previous match Rocky Holt and Johnny Large were draughted in to good effect and showed what can be achieved with honest hard work and determination.
Long Melford should have been another high point but again our inability to kill sides off nearly cost us dearly and we had to be content with another draw. Without the suspended Kwame Jones, Pat Armes had to play centre half and was sorely missed in midfield.
So that’s 5 points out of a possible 15 not the best of starts but it has given me the opportunity to look at systems and players and that’s what I said I was going to do regardless of results. I now know what we need for next season and will be working hard in pre season to satisfy our needs.
We have a long away trip to Clacton for our last match of the season so it will be interesting to see how many players will be available bearing in mind a cup final that is being played at Munford Road on Sunday.
I knew it was going to be a challenge when I took it on and so far I have not been disappointed!
When the going gets tough the tough get going
